Is it possible to bake meatballs in sauce in the oven or does it have to be on the stove? I will put cranberry sauce and usually I boil tomato or other sauce on stove and cook it on stovetop. I want to know if it is possible to bake in a sauce, and if so how long and what temperature. I do not want to brown the meat or bake it separately without the sauce first.

I've made this before and mmmm it was such a good dish. Not like you were planning but it is elevated meatballs to a whole new level!

you can bake it in the oven at 350 for about 1.5-2 hours. Make sure all meatballs are fully covered in sauce, that the pan is covered with foil, and that the pan is deep enough to handle the sauce bubbling without it squirting past the foil.

I've done it both ways and it comes out just as yummy baked as on the stove top. In fact it is actually easier in the oven because I don't have to remember to keep mixing them so they won't burn onto the bottom of the pot. I bake on 350 for about 1 1/2 -2 hours. TIP: cover the pan with foil so it doesn't splatter all over. Also, place foil pan on a baking sheet in case the sauce bubbles over the top (I didn't the first time I baked them and it was a mess!).

I always bake in oven. Never knew they 'should' be done on stovetop.
