Call a friend or sister to schmooze. I do things right away-this way it doesn't pile up.

I am never in the mood to clean. but when I am REALLY not in the mood, then I tell myself I will only do one thing, usually the dishes since I hate letting them sit. sometimes getting started is all I needed to motivate me to do more, and if not, at least I got the dishes done!

Lately I have been listening to free old time radio shows (think 1940s to 1970s) online while cleaning. Many episodes are 20 min. Prefect amount of time when doing 1-2 chores like dishes, laundry... Etc. The shows can be so interesting, esp listening to some of the old commercials and news clips that are sometimes included in the radio recordings. Also, interesting how outdated some of the stories are.

My husband and I do a "pow wow" where we put a small amount of time on the timer and just go at it. 25 mins is semi motivating.

I used to watch episodes of Hoarders and then convince myself that my house looked like that and that if I didn't clean, that 1-800-GOT-JUNK was going to come and take everything away.

It is pretty normal to get burned out taking car of the house. I have more laundry sitting waiting to be folded than should be allowed. Break it down into 10-15 minute increments. Turn on some great music or talk radio. Dance while you work. Or talk on the phone while working.

Yup. That's exactly my tactic too except with me its vacuuming that I tackle first to get me going. It's just getting started that's overwhelming sometimes.
