I have a very capable 14 month old. While he is extremely mobile and walks, runs, etc, he is kind of in between the toddler and the baby stage in terms of attention span. I try to do activities with him like coloring, but he just puts the crayons in his mouth. That's just an example. So I'm kind of at a loss for activities to do with him because right now he just likes to mess up the house.
What can I do to entertain him?

When my first was around this age I got a Learning Tower from Craigslist and it helped a lot. Not that it's actually a way to entertain, but it did help with getting breakfast made and dinner cooked without too much trouble. Also, get out of the house, even if it's for a ten minute walk. I know it's annoying to put on coats and everything just to walk around to nowhere, but mine were always more content to play by themselves for a little while if they had a good walk outside. (not in the stroller)
