Does anyone know what kind of special cake or something similar someone can get for an aufruf like a tefillin cake is for a bar mitzvah?

you can always bake a cake and put a 'ken' doll atop - with candy all over like an aufruf ... [similar to a shabbos kallah cake]

I have never heard of an aufruf cake per se. You tell the bakery to write Mazal Tov Shloimie! on it and finished. Of course then you have the issue of cutting the letters on Shabbos and all. You can get around that little problem by having them write Mazal Tov Shloimie! on a great big cookie that they stick in the center of the cake.
Greenie, do they make Ken dolls with a tallis and a hat?

zaq, many hold that cutting the letters is not an issue if the letters are edible. we always got the little chocolate square so the person we were celebrating could eat it
