What age do you get your boys Shabbos shoes? Especially if they are picky dressers? I don't want to waste my money--I don't mean necessarily fancy shoes, I.e. venettinis but just a separate pair that's a little dressier than weekday.

It depends what weekday shoes he has, and what your community does. Some shoes can be worn for both shabbos and weekday so only one pair is needed. If your child wears sneakers during the week, then it doesn't really go with a shabbos outfit. But if you are comfortable with it, and everyone else's kids wear sneakers for shabbos, then maybe wait until he requests them.
Personally, I buy shabbos shoes at around 2 for both genders.
