I do not generally shop at Costco but after I sent her the link to dailycheapskate.com's list of Kosher for Pesach bargains there, a relative who is a member is offering to take me along one day soon and I think I will accept.

So, besides the pesach items listed, what should I look out for that is a good deal there? Note that I do not have a large family that crunches through bulk cases of anything in reasonable time, and I don't have a very roomy freezer either. I am generally a sale shopper so I'm wondering which things at Costco are better than sale prices elsewhere tend to be.

So, it depends on what Costco location you go to. Some Costco locations have kosher meat and cheeses, others don't.

For instance, one of the Costcos by me carries the 2 lb bags of shredded kosher cheese. At other stores in my area cheese that size is at least $15-$16. At Costco it's about $9 a bag.

Things I personally buy for my family at Costco:
- shredded cheese, feta cheese, sliced cheese platters, cold cuts, smoked salmon
-disposable dishes and cups (mostly for pesach and sukkot)
-napkins, paper towels, toilet paper, foil
- parchment paper is a great buy there, cheapest by far in my area
-baking basics: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, spices, mayo, oatmeal
- chia seeds
- strawberry jam, peanut butter and almond butter - great prices there
- fruit leathers for school lunches, a good buy there, they don't always have in stock and varied store to store
- clothing- get most of my husbands clothes there now. I've even gotten a few things for myself. Good quality and good prices. Last month found tennis shoes for my son. I'd recommend looking at the clothing section.
- when you go, look for what's on rebate. Last summer I got a super great buy on a lunch box and lunch containers. Great quality and I use it every day for taking lunch to work.
- eggs! Among the cheapest in my area.
- laundry detergent, dishwasher soap, cleaning supplies
- medicine like Tylenol, allergy medicine... Usually a good buy there, but only if you need a lot
- I find that the shampoos, toothpaste and lotions are often overpriced, unless on rebate. That I recommend buying elsewhere.
- bananas and lettuce usually a good price there. I find their other produce usually a little on the expensive side, but it's usually good quality
- they carry all sorts of seasonal products. Last year I got a rash guard that I use all the time for swimming.
- Costco can be good for getting energy efficient light bulbs
- towels - I got new bath towels, great quality there and good price
- what I like about Costco is the excellent return policy.

I buy:

Huggies, wipes, kirkland flushable wipes, tissues, bounty, dove body wash, shampoo, dish washing liquid, detergent, furniture polish, Kedem grape juice, kirkland frozen salmon, frozen broccoli, kirkland garbage bags, batteries, kind bars, ketchup, peanut butter, case of 9X13 pans, parchment paper, apple sauce, carters clothing/pjs are cheaper that in Carters, kosher bakery cookies, chicken, lox, pastrami.... I can go on forever...

I found that cereal is cheaper in Target. Papergoods can be cheaper in Amazing savings.

I think that if you go with a friend and use her card you need to pay in cash.

Baby wipes, Basmati rice, maxi pads, and ketchup are the items that keep me renewing my membership. I also buy mayo, tissues, toilet paper, paper towels, pjs, detergent, garbage bags among other things. The fruit isn't so cheap but great quality, just make sure to check where it is grown.

If you're going right before Pesach, you're probably not buying chametz, right?

I didn't see the list you have, but my current list includes:

For Pesach: shmura matza, kedem grape juice, frozen salmon (OU says their Kirkland brand is usable on pesach if you rinse before cooking), lox (with hechsher), cheeses, milk (if bought before YT), OJ, meats, sometimes the KLP kugels.

Paper goods: paper plates, cups, silver tone plastic cutlery, napkins, tissues, paper towels.

If you have a large family, maybe a pack of toothbrushes for all. Laundry stuff, especially with coupon. It's worth lookng at the clothing. Sometimes, they have something great.

Produce: lemons, peppers, potatoes, tomato, Romaine (if we have large enough seders for 6 heads), onions, apples, oranges, grapefruit, banana, berries, mushrooms, avocado, sometimes melons.

After Pesach, I buy:
Yeast, flour, cereals, oatmeal packets, dried fruit, soy sauces, and, best of all, "pesach" things that they put on clearance, which can include meats, cheeses, kugels, chopped liver -- stuff we'll use year round.

Kitniyot/not for pesach or davka chametz things I buy at Costco: ketchup, vanilla, spices, chumus, dried fruit, salsa, marinara jars, snacks (potato chips, tortilla chips, packs of applesauce or other fruit, nuts).

What I would have listed has already been mentioned here, but I wanted to point out that milk is so much cheaper at Costco than anywhere else around here--by at least a dollar a gallon.
Also, for those weeks when I don't have time to bake my own: challah. It's not from their bakery, so it's not milchig, and it comes packaged 2 in a pack. Also packaged pareve rolls, which my kids devour.
And if yours has a kosher bakery, it's dairy, but cheap and so, so good. Muffins, birthday sheet cakes, cookies, etc.

Mini cucumbers - my kids eat them like candy
Lettuce
Bell Peppers
Baby carrots
Medjool dates

Sometimes mine carries raw honey, but their regular honey is a good quality honey as well

Are costco wipes like pampers (each one separate) or like huggies (connected, and you have to remember to tear before shabbos)?

This is what I buy at my local Costco non-chometz so I have no idea what others have....

Coconut oil
Salmon (wild sockeye, they also have farmed)
Canned salmon (wild, boneless/skinless)
Tuna
Empire chicken cutlets (2 lb bags for $10)
Shredded mozzarella cheese (2 lb bag, but not necessarily cheaper than sale prices in larger areas, I just don't have that luxury anymore)
Deli pack of Muenster cheese
Nuts
3 pack sparkling grape juice (for Y"T for my kids)
2 pack parchment paper
20 pack of 9x13s
Hard plastic disposable plates (not sure if cheaper than amazing savings type of store, I have no idea)
Unsweetened applesauces
Go-go squeezes
Canola oil (haven't done this in a while since I realized you can make challah with olive oil!)

Can't think of what else right now...

There are a lot of other bulk things I buy but since I also have a membership to Sam's which is closer to me, I get from there Wink

I had a coupon for a free case of toilet paper from my membership sign up and actually did not like it; the rolls are too big and don't fit properly in our toilet paper holders! Things like that I think I will continue getting from Amazon subscribe and save

For the lactose intolerant, the Kirkland Organic Soymilk surpasses every other brand we've tried in taste.

Does anyone here buy the liquid egg whites?

(Pesach edit: Kirkland Egg whites are NOT kosher for passover this year)

I always buy the juice boxes with OU.

Two things I was not so crazy about was their soap bars and their laundry detergent. Both clean well but also leave the ppl and the clothes very dried out.
Also , sometimes the Kirkland brand is more costly than the name brand; sometimes the prices aren't such s good deal.
However the Kirkland paper towels and silver foil are both great- imo.
Also some things ended up not being so sensible in bulk like the massive baking soda bag I got 😳

Agreed! You can use one without it collapsing from the weight of the food! The ones from disposable stores need to be doubled in my experience.

Um, wow.
Thanks for sharing!
Someone mentioned rebates; how do I know what has rebates? Is there a list somewhere?
