Their website may say info about that.
I forgot about basmati rice now that I am reading other posts. I live off the 20 lb bag I buy; I use it every single Shabbos!

20 lb of rice?! How do you keep it fresh and non-buggy? That would last me months!

The better question is... what dont I buy at costco ? The Costco near us opened 2 years ago and its a life saver, especially since I live in a small jewish community with few resources. Cheeses, milk, meat, chicken, frozen everything (blintzes, paties, pizza, vegis, fruits, gefilte fish ), paper goods, plastic ware, foil and pans, napkins, tissues, toilet paper, garbage bags, lunch bags, snacks of all kinds, treats, baking goods, teddy bears, seltzer, fresh fruit, corn on the cob, green beans, bread diapers, wipes.... just about everything anyone could need.

Sealed well You can freeze it I assume. It does last me months
But since I know space is at a premium where you are, I am not sure you should take advantage of all Costco has to offer....keep that in mind!

Costco has the best baby wipes, mayo, fresh skin on fish, produce, almond butter, honey, flour, maple syrup, tortilla chops/veggie straws, bottled water, toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, foil, laundry detergent, Lysol wipes, eggs, frozen fruit, white shirts for men, undershirts for men, quinoa, chia seeds, cases of pas yisroel bagels, and sabra hummus and wholly guacamole. Our costco doesn't have kosher meat or cheese. Diapers are good price only in certain sizes...we always figure out price per diaper before buying.

Someone mentioned rebates; how do I know what has rebates? Is there a list somewhere? |
Costco sends a monthly booklet or you can check them online.

Not listed but on sale this month (through April 5):
Masterpiece plastic plates, the imitation corelle kind. White with gray stripe around edge.
You get 25 large plates and 25 small plates for about $14. (regularly $17).
You can see photo here (but they are not $19 as listed)
http://www2.costco.com/Browse/.....av=bd
It's cheaper to get the clear plastic ones next to it on the shelf, 25 large and 25 small for $10.

I hate the brand they carry. The are attached to each other and do not rip apart well. It tends to rip and drip all over my freezer.

Kedem grape juice
diapers and wipes
Toilet paper
Paper cups (plates I have found elsewhere cheaper)
Pure organic maple syrup (fine according to many for Pesach)
Unrefined coconut oil (also fine according to many for Pesach)
extra Virgin olive oil
Smoked wild salmon
Gluten free crackers (obviously not for Pesach)
Mini cucumbers - my kids eat them like candy
Lettuce
Bell Peppers
Baby carrots
Medjool dates
Avocadoes
cuties (those small tangerines)
Pure vanilla extract
yeast for challah
Sometimes mine carries raw honey, but their regular honey is a good quality honey as well
Almond butter
Frozen fruit
Ice pops with food dyes (seasonal)
Shredded cheese
Canned Wild salmon and tuna
foil pans
parchment paper
aluminum foil |
FWIW, My costco sells Carrington farms coconut oil with star k hechsher. I emailed the star k and they said rav heineman said no coconut oil under star k is acceptable for pesach this year. They boldes the "no oil" part.

That's the star k. But there a number of mainstream rabbanim who have said that all pure oil that is expeller or cold pressed is fine for Pesach.

Yes, Sparkle, I did a double-take on that... " whoa, she can NOT have meant that!"
I dunno, if star-k are the ones who certify the oil in the first place, I think their word is the one I'd trust if they say it isn't chometz-proof. Though I'd also think any chometz tainting would be botul because there certainly aren't crumbs floating in it. How much is the Carrington Farms oil at Costco though? I am running low and would like to price-comp on Amazon first (that's where I got it last time) Though I find the large container very clumsy, even to use to refill a smaller container. It is not the right shape for scooping or pouring or anything.
Is the honey Pesach hechshered? I emailed the OU to ask about honey because I have a large, new, unopened one (different brand) that I was hoping I could use, and they said no because they find honey is often adulterated with corn syrup even if it doesn't admit it. I'm like... ! How are you supposed to know what your honey is then?! It all says "100% honey" and "Ingredients: Honey." on the labels!!! Ugh the world is not safe.

I LOVE that baking soda bag. I use it for all kinds of cleaning as well as to make washing soda for DIY laundry detergent. you can do so many things with baking soda!
