Hi! We are looking into moving to an OOT community and joining a Kollel. Columbus may be a possibility. Do you have information regarding aspects of the community specifically:

Atmosphere

Diversity

Schools- both elementary and high school, as well as tuition costs

Grocery/shopping- prices and availability of kosher products (We also eat Chalav Stam)

Job opportunities in regard to special education/education

Kollel pay per year and benefits (such as reduced housing, tuition discount if applicable and so on)

Thank you so much! Smile

Have you contacted the kollel to see if there are openings?

The city is very mixed, much more leaning toward modern. Therefore, the kollel has rules that members cannot eat others' food unless they are part of the kollel themselves to save awkward invite declines from ppl with questionable kashrus.

The school is CTA http://www.google.com/url?sa=t.....d.cWc and very mixed. It's the only Jewish school and goes through high school (co-ed). Most kollel families move out as their kids get older.

There is plenty of kosher food, especially if you eat cholov stam. Bexley Kosher closed though. There is a bagel place still I think, as well as the Kroger's having kosher departments (and maybe even take out pizza IIRC?)

Depending on the neighborhood, tuition vouchers from Ohio's EdChoice program may be available. Not all neighborhoods qualify, and where you live may not to be up to you, because the kollel sometimes prefers families in certain areas.

I know a few families still there and I know families who have moved out. They are all very, very nice people. But it is challenging to raise a more "yeshivish" family in that community as the kids grow. But there are plenty of opportunities to give to the community, which is something that a lot of people want to do.
