Received a baby gift, but we decided that it just wasn't practical, although it was very cute. How would you word the thank you gift?

You can add into morahs post, "it is so cute!" Which is still true even though you returned it.

Why does it make a difference if you returned it?

Dear ...

Thank you very much for the adorable xxx that you bought Miri.
It's very much appreciated and thanks for partaking in our Simcha.

Dear -

Although we thought your gift was cute, it was lacking practicality and as such had to be returned.

Thanks for your efforts, better luck choosing something more appropriate next time

Signed -

Seriously, who the Hell cares if you kept it or not?

Um, please don't mention that you returned it. Some things are better left unsaid.

I guess the way I usually word a thank you card is that "we hope to get a lot of use out of it" or that we hope our child will enjoy it--so if we returned already, that won't be the case. Also, bear in mind my baby is less than 2 months old, I'm not exactly thinking super clearly, but yea, a lot of your responses make sense. Thanks.
Gut yom tov!
