We're looking to go to New Hampshire this summer for a week or so. I've been reading all the old threads about the Lincoln/Loon Mountain area.
If you've gone, how much would you budget for activities? It seems like all the fun stuff is pricey: gondola rides to the top of the mountain, scenic railroad, lost river gorge, etc...
Has anyone gone and NOT spent a ton of money on attractions?

It depends on the age of your kids and what you like to do. You can spend a whole week there and not spend a penny on activities. There are hikes and free outdoor activities you can do every day.
Practically speaking, many people do go to the Lost River Gorge and Clark's Trading Post. I would skip the scenic railroad. But each day you can do 1 activity that costs money, have lunch, and then do a shorter free activity, such as a hike to a waterfall, in the afternoon. You can also drive up to the top of Mt. Washington, which I believe only costs one flat rate per car. You can PM me for more info.

okay, that's helpful. Thank you.
Now, another question: for those that have gone before, where did you stay? Do you remember how much you paid for what size room? Thanks!

It depends if you're staying for Shabbos, in which case you need to be walking distance (and techum distance) from Loon Mt., where the minyan is (there are often informal minyanim across the street in Village of Loon as well). If so, your options are more limited. The longer you stay though, the cheaper you'll end up paying per night, meaning that a week isn't so much more than 3-4 nights.
If you're not there for Shabbos, there are many places that are a short 5-10 minute drive from the minyan, which can save you lots of money. Many people rent through this company - www.looncondoconnection.com - they're familiar with the needs of the frum crowd. If you put in more time, you can probably save some money, but just make sure you know where you're staying and what you're getting.

Okay, we are revising our plan and reconsidering a shorter vacation to fit within our budget.
For those who have stayed for shabbos: did you enjoy it? Was it fun, relaxing, boring, too hard with no eruv, etc....
We can either leave Friday late morning and get home for shabbos, OR stay for shabbos. If we stay for shabbos, we will get in another activity on Sunday before going back late sunday afternoon.
Worth it or not worth the extra expense (2 extra nights of condo rental)?
