I have something like this: only it has a really pretty molding around it (sorry I can't find a pic - I got in Lowes).

It's on a wall in my hallway where I have lots of pictures and the light switch looks like another frame.

I find that with the new flat-style switches it much easier to accidentally turn a light on or off (by leaning on it) than it was with the oder flip switch types. They do look nicer though.

that's a little garish, but I'm thinking I could decorate one with vintage rhinestone earrings. or, to be partners with yours, a pic of jimi hendrix

I have Decora switches (the flat ones) and I love the way they look, but I'm guilty of the "tacky plastic switchplates." Oh well. I find them less obtrusive and sleeker than decorative ones.

I have white plastic. I guess they are what you call flat? The switch is broader than the little things people have posted here, which remind me of switches from 30 yrs ago, plus how can you clean them? All the grime gets stuck in there.
I personally think white plastic looks far less obtrusive. I have not one stitch of wallpaper in the house, and the white plastic just blends with the off-white or pastel walls.

I have no desire to draw attention to my light switches, I'd rather the eye flow elsewhere.

I had no idea it mattered to some. Maybe it's NY or Hungary...
But I see the plastic at young ppl, rich people...
Once again I feel like printing and showing to everyone saying I'm spoiled or into looks irl Smile

We like the new Zman switch.

Other than the Zman switch, we have flat white plastic tap switches with the screws covered.

Ergonomically, the decorator light switches are easier for many people with limited mobility to use. They usually have a larger active surface and require only a pushing motion to turn a light on or off.
