I know a couple of Baruchs who are Bernard in English - but they are all middle aged or elderly...

Bennett means blessed. (Of course, so do Benedict and Benito. I wonder how blessed names ended up with bad guys not that Benedict Arnold was a bad guy for the British.)
Barry is kind of mainstream. Don't know any meaning for it.

Before naming, do some work on the internet. Google the name. Look it up in Wikipedia. Look it up on the baby-naming sites. You want mainstream spelling and you want to know what associations there are with the name.

It is a tiny bit burdensome to have to explain to people for 120 years that your name has two Ts at the end. Or one N. A name whose spelling is super-obvious is more convenient.

I knew a Mary Ann who went through life saying "two words no E". I was sorry for her. It's a waste of finite time.

Mary Ann is not the same as Marianne. Different form, both legit.

There were also bad guys named like the avos.

Barney & Bernard are the most common, but you could go with anything.
If you like trendier names you could go with something like Beckett or add an X to the end of a standard boy's name (Brad becomes Brax - that trend is started to become dated though).
