Looking for resources (books, apps, other materials/general advice) for talking to a child on the spectrum about strangers, touching, who/how to ask for help. He is 4 and high functioning, verbal but not everything you tell him sticks. He has a bit of a tendency to wander (getting better, but still worrying). Are there materials designed to help kids on the spectrum understand these things?

If he is getting ABA, ask for a social story about these issues, possibly with pictures of him making safe choices. (They can paste a pic of him frowning and turning away, with a cartoon of a stranger, or a pic of him looking at a doctor or you, etc).

Reinforce by repetition at bath time about what are private parts, and who is allowed to see or touch them and when. (Doctors at checkups, parents if there is a problem, etc., not anyone else, and always tell a trusted grownup if anything is wrong. You can include pictures of grownups to trust in your social story).

Also, routinely practice asking for help, with prompts if necessary. "Oh, do you need help getting a cup? How do you say that?" Ask that to be included in ABA goals.

Good for you for working on all of this!
