Court Exempts Haredi Father from Supporting Secular Kids

I am Haredi and I think its horrible.
They are his kids! Just because they are secular its not his responsibility to have a roof over thier heads and food?? I mean what could the argument be? I dont want to buy the not kosher food?
I am sure there is much more to the story but still strikes me as so not ok.

Reading the article it seems his sons live with him and the daughters with the mother. Seems like a mess, poor kids.

And the mother is not allowed to see 2 minor sons who live with the father because she is not religious.
Extremely wrong, IMHO.

It's not surprising. Note the code word 'secular', the mother is no longer Orthodox, but she's labeled secular for the purposes of the court. The reality is that she doesn't follow their brand of Judaism so her daughters are denied support and she is denied visitation.

It sounds as if the two of them had some legal separation/get agreement, which the courts determined that she broke. It also sounds like there is some interesting stuff going on vis a vis support.
I would not make any judgment calls without a lot more information.
