Pico Boulevard has amazing kosher restaurants!
* Mexikosher (generous portions, delicious)
* Bodhi Thai (vegan! They make super authentic curries and satays if you're adventurous. And their fake meat is really good)
* Pico Cafe (milchig. The date-banana crepes are DH's favorite)
* Jeff's Gourmet Sausage
* Sushi Meshuga (I don't even like sushi, but they have non-sushi offerings like fish 'n chips and amazing curly fries)
* Shanghai Diamond Garden (really amazing Chinese, a bit fancier than the others above)
* Shiloh's Steakhouse (super duper fancy, for dates or business meetings)
Helpful links:

The Getty Museum and the Getty Villa are both lovely.
The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens in San Marino is also a nice daytrip.
La Brea Tar Pits are interesting.

What are your interests as Los Angeles has a wide range of activities from cultural (I.e. museums of every kind) to physical to pop like Universal Studios.
Since you only have two days, some of the suggestions are a bit impractical since you would be in a car traveling and with two days, it probably makes sense to focus on the central activities of Los Angeles.
Santa Monica/Venice is worth visiting if you want to visit the ocean. You can stroll along Venice Boardwalk and take in the scene. The view from Palisades Park is lovely. That is probably realistically a morning.
Universal Studios Tour is worth it if you have the least bit of interest in pop culture. Aside from the theme rides typically of amusement parks, there is also a "tour" of the studio in tram cars. This would realistically take a day.
The Los Angeles Museum and Natural History Museum are worth seeing if you are into museums. They are both centrally located. The Getty Museum off the 405 has stunning views but it is a shlep to get there.
If you enjoy hiking or any kind of physical activity, doing the climb up Runyon Canyon is fabulous. It is centrally located and starts in the heart of Hollywood. Depending on your level of physicality you can hike to the top up a fire road. It exemplifies what is magical about living in Los Angeles as it is a wilderness right in the heart of a dense metropolitan area. If you hike to the top, there is a panoramic view of the City. It is also an incredible scene which attracts loads of hipsters and their dogs :-)
You might also think about doing a bus tour of the city if you don't know anyone to take you around. They are hokey and certainly not a way to see the stars. However, they would give you a good overview of the "sights" like Beverly Hills, Sunset Strip etc. with a guide at least explaining them. There are all kinds of tours geared to specific interests.
You may or may not be interested in visiting the Holocaust Museum. If you have read about it, it is a multi-media experience which - among other things - attempts to provide one with some of the experience of what it would have been like to have experienced the Holocaust.
