Adding something else - There are more and more of these American Yeshivot/Seminaries popping up every year. Anyone who worked in chinuch or has smicha find a Yeshiva for American kids is a great way to make a living here. And the existing Israeli Yeshivot love to add on a chu"l program to help them balance their budget.

Sanguine, you're right. It's a combination though. Every American kid comes with a list of relatives and friends to call PLUS the schools call and ask us to host their students PLUS my husband works in a yeshiva and has to host his students.
I do have a fried who finally called one seminary and said I'm happy to keep hosting 10+ girls every other week, as long as you pay me NIS 50 a girl!
