There is a house we are considering buying but the current layout of the kitchen is not very conducive to keeping kosher. Basically the sink is right next to the stove, so even if we installed a double sink there is no way to make one side of the sink milchig and the other side fleishig.
There is a counter on the other side of the kitchen with cabinets, but no sink installed.
What would it cost to install a sink on the other side of the kitchen? I know nothing at all about plumbing and what is involved in putting in a new sink.

If you're considering buying the house, you can get a contractor in to give you an estimate for any work you are considering. We did that.

If you're just trying to add a sink without doing any other layout changes —
AND there's a cabinet on the the other side of the kitchen you can co-opt for the sink (24" - 36" base cabinet)
AND the kitchen has formica counters which are relatively cheap and easy for a handyman to replace —
then...
A stainless single sink + decent faucet + disposer will be in the $300-600 price range, an off-the shelf formica counter from a Home Depot or similar store will be in the $100 range, plumbing most likely 1000 - $1500, handyman to replace counter a few hundred dollars. So I'd guesstimate $1500 - $2000 total.
If you're remodeling the kitchen and/or doing a bunch of other stuff to the house, consider calling in a specialist for layout help and a contractor for the estimate.
