Okay. Here is the deal. There is no Chul Bedatz lettuce in this country (That's what we eat). Last night 12:30, my friend called me that she is in Shaari Revacha and they have lettuce. I SPECIFICALLY asked her to triple check that it is bedatz and she said it def is. SO! in the mean time I spend a big chunk of time cutting up vegi's for my Portobello mushroom salad, sautéing the mushrooms, making the dressings for that and nish nosh salad and a ceasar salad as well. Long story short, I picked up the lettuce and it is NOT bedatz, its r Efrati, and also not chu"l. My main question is, what do I do now? Can I still make those salads with something else? HELP!
THANKS!

Is it hydroponic? I heard that Rav Efrati (who was R' Elyashiv's talmid) has a hechsher on water grown lettuce, which isn't subject to shemittah.

there is only efrati lettuce becuase the place where badatz gets theirs is infested with bugs.
There is NO badatz anywhere!!!
I personally use efrati as do many many of my very chareidi neighbors.
Osher ad has tons of efrati stuff. I am in mad rush but came to check if anyone answered my recipe questions...and I see what a chessed it is. So here are 2 great salads without lettuce.
But if you don't' here's a nice recipe with ur mushrooms; (similar to one with ovocado, purple onion, tomato, cucumber, hearts of palm, salt, pepper, garlic powder, lemn juice and a little mayo) but with a twist and your mushrooms!!!
5 porttobello mushroom caps
olie il for drizzling
salt to taste
pepper to taste
3 kirbies/sml cucumbers, cut I half and circles (moons)
2 ripe ovacados peeled and sliced
1 pint tgrape tommatoes halved
1/2 cpu toasted pine nuts (I used small white ones not pine cuz didn't have, just gives nice crunch)
DREssiNG: 1/4 c. olive oil, 1 clove crushed garlic, 1 TBS lemon juice
1/2 tsp basil, 1/2 tsp oregan
1/2 tsp salt
clean mushrooms, removed gills.
place caps on prepared pan greatsed, gill side up.
drizzle olive oil and sprinkle salt an pepper. roast on 425F 15 minutes until edges begin to brown. remove and slice.
combine all vegies and pour dressing over.
CABBAGE SALAD
1 bag white
1 bag purple
3 scallions sliced
1/2 c toasted slivered almonds
1/2 c craisins/pomegranate arils
DRESING
1 c mayonaise
1/4 csugar
1/4 c vinegar
1/3 c water
2 cloves crushed garlic
1/8 tsp pepper
salt t taste, about 1 tsp
pepare dressing, shake well.
pour over right before serving so stays crunchy
Good yom tov!

Take a peeler and peel carrots and cucumbers into thin wide strips. Use in place of lettuce in any of those salads!

In the shopping center in RBSA there was someone with a makeshift stand selling Romain Lettuce that Was Rav Efrati and Machzeki Hadas and six other mehadrin hechshers that I don't recognize.

כנראה לא בהשגחת הבדץ-they said the lettuce was too bug infested to give a הכשר on it

The teriyaki mushrooms can be used on top of blanched string beans (I use the frozen ones). Or plain- yum!

Either way I buy the stalks (when there is no cut lettuce) but then soak, wash and check each leaf- is that not an option?

We used only Badatz, but my FIL checked it out a few weeks ago and said there is a big improvement in Rav Efratis this year.
Just throwing that out for you.

Maybe people can grow their own.
Indoors under lights or on the window sill or balcony under special cloth that lets light in but keeps bugs out.
