My step mother in law has always been really wonderful to us. Supportive, respectful, helpful, generous, loving… She lives over an hour away, and her elderly father was just hospitalized and it doesn't look so good. We are ravening that he has a refuah shleima, but right now he is on a respirator. She is an emotional person, and certainly stressed right now.
I am trying to think of something to send to be supportive. SMIL doesn't have any financial issues, but doesn't spend money on herself much. I don't want to seem celebratory, chase veshalom, or to imply that we are bracing ourselves for the worst. So no flowers, I am sure she is buying prepared food and that the food aspect is taken care of.
Any ideas?
