I am embarrassed to say that I have gotten pretty far in life with only ever having attended ONE shabbos kallah... (Not for me... I didn't want one for myself. The one I attended was a long time ago for someone I was not close to.)

What is generally expected? For someone attending, not a hostess.

How/when do they usually end? Do guests stay till havdalah?

Thanks!

Just show up. sit for a while, eat something.
Leave when you want. Don't be the last guest.
Some stay till after havdalah, some don't.

Do not overthink it.
They are usually extremely boring.

Are you going for the day meal or to hang out in the afternoon after the meal? If you're going in the afternoon, just think of it as a shabbos afternoon visit.
Most of my friends were married already at my shabbos kallah so I invited all the couples to come eat with me while my family was at the aufruf. My mom and I had cooked and I had a great time with my friends and their dh's. Shabbos afternoon I relaxed and some cousins came to visit.

I have other events to go to that day and trying to figure out how late I can come... If I come close to havdalah, will everyone be gone by then?

Usually only the kallah's close friends, if anyone, stays until after havdalah. A Shabbos kallah is usually an afternoon event, but everyone does their own thing. Some only invite close friends, some invite the neighbors and relatives. Some last an hour, some last all Shabbos. I think you would have to ask the kallah or her mother what to expect by this Shabbos kallah.

Thank you to everyone who answered! I think I have a clear sense of what would be appropriate now.
