You do realize that in any state, its illegal to pay differently if one is married. Right?

That's usually just a euphemism for "older and experienced." It's a given that an 18 year old who just graduated high school has less work and life experience than a 25 year old. A single 25 year old with experience will get the same salary as a married 25 year old.
