Do you ever feel like when someone gives you a gift as a thank you for doing something for them, it lessens what you did for them? I feel like since they give me something in return, it's tit for tat, so to speak. I do appreciate the gift and the thought behind it. I might also give a gift in return, but as the one who receives it, I feel this way. Anyone else?

Try to view receiving the gift as another form of giving. When the person gives you a gift, and you accept it gracefully, it helps them feel less indebted/ashamed that they took from you. By accepting it, you are allowing them to feel more comfortable in you presence. It's another important part of giving.

I always take it gracefully and accepting. I don't tell them how I feel.
