I bought really pretty fluted white plastic containers with clear lids at the dollar tree. These are so pretty they can go from fridge to table for an informal meal.
I bought 10 round and 10 oval so NOW I never have missing lids and everything matches.
My BIGGEST issues are weird sizes that don't nest well in the cupboard when they are stored and mismatched lids.
For a dollar I can throw the container away when it becomes stained.

OTHER--because they are hard to clean and che cheap ones melt in the dishwasher

Silicone is very hard to wash properly. I had to throw out my cupcake molds

It's not clear what type of product you are trying to make but for most part if it's easy to wash makes the choice of saving it or not.

#1 and #2 for the Rubbermaid containers that I buy.
#3 for the ones that take-out food comes in. I like to have a just a few of those on hand for when I'm sending dips or salads to other people and I don't want the container back.
