If you can invest a few dollars in those clear shoe boxes they're kind of nice. Keep shoes dust free and it's easy to identify what's inside and they stack nice and neat high up on a closet shelf or wherever else you would put them.

But the truth is as much as I wanted to save shoes from one kid to the next, once they were worn they were kind of molded to that kids foot and even when the next kid was ready for it, it just wasn't such a comfortable fit. I found it preferable to just give them away and buy new shoes, but then I never buy expensive shoes so maybe it's different with higher end shoes.

so its really a space issue to start stacking tons of boxes I don't have the space for it and some are worn and some are brand new my mom enjoys buying for the kids whatever is on sale and so somtimes its not the right size for that kid and I find with younger kids the shabbos shoes don't get worn out even if they didn't cost alot. I dont' buy expensive shoes at all. Certain ones have come in handy and boots and crocs seem to last longer than most things.

There are under bed shoe organizer boxes. Like this http://www.amazon.com/gp/produ.....1VMR. I think you can find cheaper ones also.

I have a plastic bin or two that fits up on a high closet shelf. I just clean the shoes off and store inside.

I take it down twice a year or so, or when a DC has grown to see what we have that might fit. I agree that shabbos shoes and crocs seem to last through multiple kids - also some Keens sandals.

I have an over-the-door hanging shoe organizer. It hangs on the back of my girls' bedroom door so it's not visible from the outside. As long as they remember to put their shoes in there, they stay organized. You can put it inside a closet door (which I would have if their room had a closet). Also their shoes are still small enough so that a pair can fit into each pocket, so I can store 24 pairs of shoes.

You may be able to hang a shoe organizer on the back wall of the closet instead of over the door or on the closet rod, because children's clothes do not use the full depth.

Don't let the normal way of hanging one limit your choices.

Here's an example of a shoe organizer with grommets meant to hang from a closet rod: http://www.amazon.com/Rubberma.....nizer
For the most stability with this example you would securely attach a 1"x3"x about 30" to the back wall through the studs, then put in nails, screws, or hooks where the grommets are located, and then hang the shoe organizer using the grommets (remove the hanger tops).
