We put the high chair on the low setting and just moved it up to the table. If baby got too rambunctious, we moved it back and put the tray on.

From 6 months when we started solids. We bought a great $22 booster high chair that had a tray and she sat with us through all family meals.

My son is 19 months. He makes the least mess when on his knees on a regular chair. On shabbos he uses Corelle, not China. While On the subject, he uses a cup, not a sippy cup or bottle.

When they start eating food /weaning whatever you call it. As soon as they get food they sit by the table.
All my kids strted solids at different ages and thus started sitting to eat at the table at different ages.

High chair, booster seat is the same for me, but otherwise the same. As soon as they know how to sit by the table without grabbing everything or enough room to move everything away from them .
