The most basic dark colored ones, yes, all the crazy patterns and colors, no.

It's an "it"? They have many styles, some nicer, some weird. They don't fit my kids feet well, so we don't buy them.

They come in a variety of styles and colors too but the loafer version with the staps or rubber or bows is the most popular. They usually repeat the style with a new addition or color each season.

I personally find the wide elastic strap across to look rather dorky. And why do kids need leather shoes? I grew up with sneakers.

If you send your kids to school in sneakers they will be the nebs of the school.
Not talking about in Israel though.

I never heard of Venettinis until I joined imamother. I think the brown moccasin in the second to last picture is cute but the rest are ugly.

I think if any kid showed up to Israel in one of these s/he'd be teased all year long.
Maybe in charedi schools it's different, but I doubt it.

You couldn't pay any of my kids enough money to wear one of those for a day.

These are what I'd consider classic Venettini styles.

And these:

Dd had 2 pairs of them and wore them terribly. She kept on stepping on the back totally ruining it after a week.

I grew up wearing sneakers to school, but now the kids all have school shoes.

I like the Venettinies that are normal colors and styles. I think elastic looks like it holds it on well - and I've gotten so used to the look, that it doesn't bother me anymore and I like it. I think regular loafers look nice too - but they wouldn't stay on as well. I think the elastic makes it so the child can wear loafers but run around too so they don't fall off.

That said, I don't think I'd buy them for my kids so fast. Not at those crazy prices.

In Israel it's not just sneakers....half the year they wear sandals. And during the winter the girls in most schools don't necessarily wear sneakers, but all sorts of ballet slippers/ boots/different shoe wear...just not quite as 'slick' as this Venettini style strikes me.

Incidentally, I also never heard of the brand before this site.

I like the moccasin loafer look from any company, but we don't buy the venettinis as they are no good for dd's feet and most other moccasin look shoes don't work for her either.
As an aside, I don't usually like the other styles that venettini manufactures.

Reminds me of Almanzo Wilder who wore moccasins to school until he was old enough for real shoes. Farmer boy anyone?

When I first became from, I bought Mishpacha which had Venettini ads in it. I thought it was a joke! Ugly ads! Ugly shoes! I totally didn't get it. That was years ago. Now I can quote Fluffernutter: "I like the Venettinies that are normal colors and styles. I think elastic looks like it holds it on well - and I've gotten so used to the look, that it doesn't bother me anymore and I like it."

So I bought my daughter her first pair for this school year. DISCLAIMER: I LET HER CHOOSE ANY PAIR OR BRAND SHE WANTED THAT FIT HER. She chose some spring on sale Venettinis.

Riddle me this: The first day of school after Pesach every single girl at her busy bus stop had Atlantas on. She was the only - absolute only - girl wearing something from DSW! Guess where I live...
