I am trying to cut my facebook friends list to only people who I know well in real life.
If I unfriend somebody, will she get a notification saying that I unfriended her?
otherwise I figured that somebody who has hundreds of friends would never notice that I have unfriended her...
anyone know about this? TIA

No, there's no notifications. She might notice that she's not seeing updates from you, though.

If you just want to stop seeing her posts, you can "unfollow" her. There are a few friends whose posts drive me nuts, but I know they see mine and would notice if I unfriended them. I just unfollowed them and that works well for me.

There's no notification, but you may show up on her "suggested friends" list.

Or if she happens to see you somewhere, say in one of your infrequent posts, or perhaps someone else interacted with you, the "Add Friend" button. That's why "unfollow" is lower-impact.
