I just received my copy of the Jewish Press this morning & was surprised to see an article on the front page of the paper with the title The Education of Freida Sima which took me by surprise & reminded me of the old days & posts by 'FS'. It was an interesting article by the real FS about her grandmother's life & education.

I am not posting this to start another FS bashing fest. This was just something that I thought my fellow imamothers might find to be of interest b/c it surely took me by surprise this morning.

Thank you for sharing. Perhaps you can give the title because I am trying to locate it. I come in peace.

The title is The Education of Freida Sima by Judy Tydor Baumel-Schwartz on the front page continuing on the back page of this week's paper.

Thanks to the poster above who shared the link. Not sure how to do that as I mentioned above.

Read the article. I have no idea what it has to do with the poster frieda sima, except that they share a first name.

It was written by the woman who used to post here under the screen name of Freida Sima.

Thanks, from the thread title, I thought it might be something juicy about FS.

Nope, as I mentioned in the original post, this was not to start another bashing FS post but just interesting b/c it explained how she got the idea of that particular screen name.

Does anyone else want to respond to this?

Short answer: No, she was banned from imamother.

Nice article.

Here's all the info you need, apparently, so that this thread can remain on course. I was about to start reading Anna Karenina, but now I'm on page 13 of this thread instead.

Now back to the Jewish Press article.

Judy Tydor Baumel-Schwartz and her family will be celebrating the 120th birthday of her grandmother Freida Sima (who passed away in 1984) this Shabbos, parshas Bereishis.

Strange .... since when do we celebrate the birthday of a dead person? That's what a yartzeit if for.

We celebrated my grandmother's AH birthday. It was a chance us to get together and remember her. We couldn't do it on her yartzeit for various reasons.
