You are right that not going down without a fight can be a virtue and each life does count. But I am still not sure the holocaust could have been avoided just by virtue of gun ownership being legal and common.

"I think the likelihood of Hitler being able to accomplish his goals would have been greatly diminished if the people had been armed"

Carson used the word diminished and in the interview he did. And if fact where there were armed uprisings, things did go in a different direction and the Nazi machine's powers were diminished. One rebellion destroyed a crematoria. That made a difference. Other rebellions in the War caused resources to be diverted.

Since Dr. Ben Carson said this, his words have been twisted to say that he blames gun control, that he thought the Holocaust could have been prevented, that he said if Jews had been armed. He said none of that. He made a simple statement Hitler was able to grab power and that an armed populace would have diminished the accomplishment of some of his goals.

Going into another election, let's figure out who are friends are. Watching Dr. Carson being thrown under the bus is rather painful. People will go out and vote for someone who supports the poor Palestinian narrative because they got offended by something Carson did not say. (This isn't to say I'm voting for Carson. I am undecided. But most Jews will end up voting either Hillary and Bernie).

Can no one read or hear? Ben Carson points out that the Holocaust might have been *different* if *the people (the German populace)* had not been disarmed and forced to submit to tyranny.

Everyone is in a hissy for no reason. And what in the world is this narrative that the resistance was futile because of the strength of the Nazi machine? What ever happened to the concept "if only one life. . . "? What about the idea of not going down without a fight?

It's not just that. True, if some hostile government wants to come flatten your town, a few puny little AR-15s possessed by the locals cannot prevent it. But if the people are armed, the government does have to think twice about flattening that town because even if they would win in the end, it would come at a cost- in money, resources, and manpower- to deal with an unhappy armed populace that is not going to roll over and take it. If the people aren't armed, then they can't exact that kind of cost, and there is now nothing stopping the government from running away completely with their power.

"Blaming" the holocaust on something and saying it could have been diminished had people been armed are so far apart that no further comment is necessary.

If Carson was a Democrat anyone skewing his comments so badly would be deemed a racist who can't see reality, attacking Carson only because he is black etc.
