Lands End is sold out of the bag we wanted. Dd, age 8, prefers a messenger bag,but would consider a pretty backpack. She especially likes Kipling, but I'd like to spend under $30. We need something that will last at least several years.

I think I saw a turquoise Kipling backpack at Century 21 for around $40 or so.

Try searching for Roxy junior backpack on amazon. I got a very nice one for 23$. It seems very well made.
I just checked, many styles are marked down to about $18. They are so pretty and sturdy

The price went down twice since I ordered (close to a dollar each time) and I made two price adjustments. Now the price is $15.80. Great deal!

Bumping this up. DD's backpack is worn out and she can use a new one. Can someone post a link to something nice, affordable, and good quality?

Amelia Bedelia, any Jansport knapsack will last years. prices differ on style of bag and color/print. I bought my kids Jansports four years ago for around $36. we have a couple that are over 10 years old, still going strong. they have lifetime guarantees. if it wears out, send it back for a replacement. they're available in lots of stores, so google around for the best prices.
