I've been seeing this style dress around a lot on many different types of people and body types, including pregnant.
I don't love the look. A belt makes it okay sometimes. Otherwise I think it looks like a nightgown, even with a sweater over it.

but I don't know too much about fashion.

Oh, those dresses are just heinous. I've seen some young mothers wearing them around and they look so dowdy. I know they are trying to look chic, but doesn't it seem like they just rolled out of bed and couldn't be bothered to get dressed? I bet it is comfy, though!

Don't know about slinky dresses but I'm finally able to find sweater dresses long enough to cover my knees (without adding a skirt under). Lots of companies are making midi dresses, like HM, Forever21, etc.

So cozy and no need to match up an outfit.
