Do you hang or machine dry white shirts? Why do you recommend your method?

Dryer.
No time nor space to have them all hanging around my house plus I find the dryer gives them an added softness that air drying doesn't.

Dryer
They probably need to be replaced a little more often if they're put in the dryer but I make this choice anyhow

I dry them. It's easier. Needs less ironing. Quicker.
Like am gold said, they will probably need to be replaced quicker, but I choose to do this b/c it works for me.

Thanks for your replies, everyone. So the downside to drying is the need to replace them more often? Why is that?

Why? How is that different that hanging straight from the washer or drying fully?

Thanks!

Why do you prefer hanging them over drying them?

I remove them from the dryer when hot, then hang them.

The white shirts that my son wears are not the highest quality. I think the dryer would be harsh on them and cause shrinkage. Also the dryer makes stains set and so I avoid it unless the clothes are very sturdy and have either no stains or are an article of clothing that doesn't matter if the stains set (undershirts, socks).

I try to dry only 3-4 at a time and remove right away -when just dry. Mom's (A"H) advice ..
If they stay too long in the dryer you will prob have to iron them. I'm not always so "good" about remembering on time!

DH likes it that way. They are dry enough to not be dripping water but not shrinking either.

This is why I hang them. White shirts tend to get stained easily, and once you've put them in the dryer, you have almost no chance of ever getting them out.

I used to dry them, and have been hanging them the past few years..the shirts have less stains , and the cuffs and collar dont warp or fade. in the summer I hang them out in the sun...the sun is actually a powerful stain remover in white clothes....We only have white shirts...All colored shirts go in the dryer though...

I make sure to take right out of the washer and then put in the drier and take out either when just dry or when almost. The thing I noticed the most, is not to put too many in the drier at a time. So I will put in first 3-4 for my husband, and when I take those out I split the rest of the load into two. And again, make sure to take out and fold/hang right away.
