What do people bring to a masa kumta??? Or how can I totally embarrass my son by being over the top?

You mean to the tekes at the end of the masa kumta? Lots of food for sure. Some families also bring banners.

I'd advise you to get there a few hours early if possible if you want to get a decent seat.
