My daughter was just a bit younger when she started complaining that the room was falling - she was dizzy, essentially. It got so that any time she spun around at all (like if someone picked her up and twirled her even once), she'd cry hysterically. At her 3 year checkup we discovered that her ears were loaded with fluid, and it was impacting her hearing as well. We hadn't suspected anything with her ears until then b/c she never got infections and her speech was excellent.

Anyways, I took her to an ENT who recommended getting tubes. He sucked out a load of very thick fluid when he placed them. And after that, she never had the dizziness issue again.

So, to make a long story short, look into ear fluid as a cause. The fix is, B"H, simple if that turns out to be the problem.

Thanks for the responses, I've been to an ENT and he passed the hearing test . I scheduled an appointment to the neurologist, I'm kinda nervous...he fell off a bed yesterday and he started crying hysterically. I couldn't calm him down, I'm really nervous that something is very wrong with him.

I asked my pediatrician if it has to do with the eyes, he said no! Rather imbalance in the ear or neurologist, the nerves...he usually has it early in morning or late at night. Otherwise he's kh a perfectly healthy active boy.

For imbalance because to the ear (something with crystals not being in the correct place) did your dr think to try a physical therapist who can fix that - someone like this: http://www.dizzinessandbalance.net/home.html

You say he usually has it in the morning and at night. When I get vertigo I usually get it when I'm laying down in bed or turning in bed or if I bend my head Dow n it sounds to me Like vertigo since he complained about his crib etc.
Vertigo is not serious so don't panic it can come from a virus or fluid
There r excercises to do to get rid of it hatztlocha !!ly

dh has an imbalance his ear. thats what he was told and diagnosed with vertigo. nothing he did helped. it doesnt mean there is no help out there. I know someone who went for help and she claims it helped her. it was very severe. I dont know what she did all I know is that shes much better. I cant ask her. shes very private about her medical stuff.

I didn't try that place I listed above. Its in Neptune, not so far from lakewood. Dr Lempel recommended them very highly when I was experiencing vertigo. She was very helpful with seeing if she could even help me over the phone, she asked me to do some maneuvers and based on the results she told me not to bother coming in.

There are different types of vertigo, which have different characteristics and are treated differently.

Was he ever given any strong antibiotics or medications (as a newborn for eg)? Certain antibiotics (such as gentamycin) can affect hearing or balance, and the effects may not be immediate. Check into this so that you have the information when you visit the specialist.

My child has vertigo episodes, and the neurologist is concerned about seizures or a tumor. Anyone have experience, or advice?

Is he sending you for a workup (CT scan/MRI)?

Yes. Tests to rule out:
EEG for seizures
MRI for tumor

The MRI needs to be done while sedated.

This is a child who has tubes, and has been getting ear infections, even with the tubes. Though at the time when the vertigo started, he got tested for fluid build up and there was none.
He also vomited out of nowhere twice.
The neurologist seemed concerned, but I want to do some of my own research. I don't know where to start.

As someone with expertise in the medical field, I recommend that you follow his advice carefully and get the tests done as soon as you can schedule them. You really need to rule out the most serious possibilities before you can consider the other options. Put your energies into getting your son in to do the tests. Once you have results, your neurologist can guide you further.

Not to hijack this thread but New amother here --My daughter (6) is constantly complaining of dizziness. It is interesting to note that she has had vomiting episodes seemingly out of nowhere and her face literally turns parchment white when she has these "episodes" She did have chronic ear infections as a baby and has had tubes placed twice. We did extensive blood work a while ago and took her to a neurologist who diagnosed her with migraine headaches. She claims that migraines in children present differently than in adults and she feels that my daughter has migraines. I usually treat her with Motrin (she was on prescription meds for a time but we did not see much improvement). I am not convinced they are migraines and would love to know where else I could turn for help in this. She is also clumsy and is always falling, or bumping into things. We had her vision tested as well....

My friends child had migraines and the neurologist said to immediatly stop her from having caffeine, food coloring and MSG. My friend said when she does not have those things, her child does not het migraines... Its worth a shot.
I was diagnosed with occular migraines as an adult, but avoiding those things doesnt help.
