Sometimes my office orders lunch and we all sit around and eat together. This is done for Rosh Chodesh or to celebrate an event (engagement, shower, new baby).
I was wondering if I am still entitled to a lunch break.

Other people in my office take a break before or after a party and I was wondering if really we are allowed to. Don't want to bring it up to the boss for obvious reasons.

In offices where I've worked, the communal lunch is the break. Isn't it a bit chutzpadick or chasserich to get free food AND then take your separate break.

That said, maybe I don't know what you mean by a break because I didn't work on an assembly line so I would take informal breaks during the day for many reasons but that would be depending on urgency of things needed to be done and so breaks would occur when there was not much urgent. But to I eave the office for an hour for an additional break on a day when there was a communal lunch, no.

If you mean a short break in the afternoon to eat birthday cake or whatever, then I would still take a lunch break

I am referring to taking a formal 45 minute lunch after having a party/celebration for 45 minutes.

This.
If you don't want to use your 45 minutes (nice length btw) for the party buy your own food. IMO.
