I wore a tiny bit of lipstick for my daughters bat mitzvah. That was the first time I've worn make up in years. I hate the stuff, the look, the feeling of it... And I also think most people look worse with it on.

It's very rare to be the only one Smile .

I wear eyeliner, but not always. When I don't, I look completely washed out. It has to do with aging, at least for me.

I only wear it for special occasions (weddings and the like). I just started a new job, so I've been putting on BB cream (like a very light tinted moisturizer) and a tiny bit of eyeliner (not the long lasting kind) every day, but that will probably peter out at some point. I don't like the feeling of a full face of makeup all the time, it clogs my pores and eye stuff gets in my eyes. B"H I have pretty good skin though.

I've been wearing makeup daily since I was 14, and a full face since I started shidduchim. That includes every. single. day. Even post birth. I have terrible skin and very light hair, so without makeup I look gross. With makeup I look great. I wish I didn't have to have a mask to feel confident, but that's just the way it is.
I think most people [even naturally beautiful ones] look more put together/classy with even a touch of tinted moisturizer and mascara, maybe a drop of lip gloss. It can take literally two minutes to do and makes you look like you respect yourself enough to show your best face to the world.

I don't see the self respect factor here.... What's the connection between makeup and self respect? If anything I think wearing it by definition implies less self confidence, not more self-respect....

To me, wearing makeup is like putting on a nice outfit. Someone who never does is like someone who is always wearing an old sweatshirt and dirty slinky skirt

I wear makeup, but I do agree that many people don't know how to apply makeup in a tasteful way.
Best makeup is the one that looks natural and enhances your best features; plus no one actually notices if you're wearing it Wink

There are people who don't need it. They are often of southern blood, never had a pimple, with dark defined eyes.

Or, in another case, she may be of excellent skin, never had a pimple, less coloring, naturally rosy, has perhaps a pale blue eye.

If she had a pimple or two in adolescence, is of northern blood, it is probable she would do well with a little complexion coverage and a little blush, and a little concealer and definition around the eyes.

Each case is different.

I wear makeup about 50 percent of the time.

So I don't feel pressured to put it on, since ppl are accustomed to seeing me without. I have olive toned skin so I don't look washed out without makeup. I just look plain and blah.

When I do wear makeup- on weekdays only when I have time, for shabbos almost always, for simchas always, I don't cake it on. No foundation- just blush, eyeliner, mascara, and lip gloss.

I almost never wear makeup, mainly because I'm too lazy to put it on. I wear it for special occasions, and sometimes I'll put it on just because it makes me feel pretty and grown up. I just don't usually find it worth the hassle.

Simple daytime makeup can be put on in one minute by the clock. That includes application with no mirror, checking in the mirror, and second check by the window with the magnifying side of the mirror.

Some products go on easier than others. A plump, thick eye shadow pencil jumps on. A moist complexion compact with a sponge does also. A coverstick from Maybelline also. A lipgloss doesn't need careful lip definition.

I never wear it. I don't like the way it feels or looks, and have no interest in spending money on it. Sorry, world, what you see is what you get! Very Happy

Lack of makeup does not denote lack of grooming. One can be nicely turned out without painting one's face.

I don't wear makeup except for major events (like my wedding).

I'm so beautiful that I don't need it.

You haven't seen me, you haven't seen my outfit, and you have no idea about my self esteem either. But you judge me (and all the other women you see without obvious makeup) as being pathetic and essentially rude to the world because you yourself aren't comfortable going without it?

I'm lucky to have a clear complexion, big eyes, long lashes. I'm no supermodel, but I've got those. Why should I paint them over? Why should I do that to go to the supermarket or play with my kids at the playground? If the world is insulted by my lack of grooming, then the world needs to get a life. It's 100% possible to look decent without being completely done up and dressed up. Casual and natural are not a sign of poor self-respect, they're often a sign of confidence.

Ah. There goes one now. Doesn't need makeup.

That's not casual. You can be nicely dressed without makeup. If you are one of the people who don't need it.

Don't forget, we aren't showing our hair. We either have a beautiful wig or a nice scarf, so we don't necessarily have as much need to do things with the face. We already look organized. But to each her own.

I hate the way I look without makeup. not that I think I'm ugly but my complexion is awful. if I don't wear makeup , I look like I just woke up. argh.

but when I wear makeup, I actually think I'm pretty.

Hmm. Why does anyone need makeup? The average human face should be palatable without makeup. I understand if people feel more confident or put together with makeup, but I have issues with the idea that only the lucky few who are naturally beautiful should be seen without it.
