I purchased a black ball gown skirt for my sisters wedding and need to add a top.

I prefer 3/4 or long sleeve (not capped sleeve) and either black, or white.

Anyone up for the challenge in helping me?

Is there a specific color your sister wants you to wear?

I think lace looks really pretty and formal. Most long sleeved ones will look nice with a shell. Something with some structure like peplum would be nice in my opinion

I would say try something fitted crop style maybe more printed or colorful since your skirt is black

Will be following this tread Im also looking for one. Would like a black and white top. Peplum would not do for a full skirt.

I am looking for cream color.

Because the skirt is so full and dramatic I want a fitted top to emphasize my waist. But Im not stick thin, so how do you wear fitted when not a size 2?

Something like a cropped top will do.

it depends on how fitted. skin tight clingy fabric, or well-tailored stiff fabric? you can wear a tight top with a girdle or corset underneath if you really want to.

here's a lace top. it would need a shell, but that's easy to find.

I think she needs something shorter. The skirt is a full skirt which starts at the waist.

tucking in works. the crop top with full skirt look is really not for a grown woman. cropped top with ballgown skirt will look quite silly. alternatively, she can wear the shirt untucked and use a tasteful belt to accentuate the waist.

that's a nice style. consider buying a few styles and returning the ones you won't wear.

OP, I just saw this post and would like to know if you could tell me where/which ball gown skirt you bought--I wanted to also purchase a top and ball gown skirt for my sister's wedding because I can't wear a full gown due to my "pregnant looking stretched out stomach".

Thanks
