Just wondering if others wear a fall to a simcha or is a full sheitel more the norm.

I've worn a fall to a simcha with a a nice headband. Why not? Wear whatever makes you comfortable and feel beautiful.

I don't think it's very dressy. I would only wear a full wig to a simcha.

Generally, the fancier the simcha, the more people will be wearing full shaitels and not falls.
I personally feel that I just need to look respectable attending a simcha. No one cares how you look unless you are the one making the simcha. So I'd wear a fall if I wanted to. It's plenty respectable if you're dressed nicely. (I.e., not in a t-shirt)
