I make them during school hours because I don't want to shlep the kids who have to go and then everyone with me and also because then we'd get home late and things don't run smoothly then.
What do you do?

After school/evening. No skipping school and work if the child isn't sick. It's only once a year, so not too inconvenient.

On Sundays but I did take my kids to the dentist for regular checkup during school hours because I didn't want to schlep them after school which would end up being a late evening

I make the appointment at lunch time and take that dc out to eat. My kids love it and its only once a year per dc.
