Do you have your children attend every birthday party they are invited to? I try to make that happen but sometimes its just too stressful. Whenever my daughter is invited to a party that my husband is able to drive her to, we always say yes. I don't drive so last year we made a rule that unless my husband is available to drive her, she does'nt go.
My daughter got invited to a birthday party this monday morning (chanukah vacation). My husband has to work so he is not available to drive her. Plus we have a family chanukah party the night before and I really was looking forward to sleeping in the next morning, not rushing to get ready for a birthday party.I do feel bad though to say no. My daughter is close with this girl in school but not so close that they have playdates often outside of school.

I would not want to cause my child to miss a friend's birthday party because I felt like sleeping in.
But if your husband has to work and you have no other means of transportation, then there's nothing to talk about. You can't go. (Unless maybe you can get her a ride with someone else)?

Why not see if a friend can take her?
