I recently used ground up oats instead of matza meal/ breadcrumbs in tuna patties and meatballs when I realised mid-recipe that I was out... so it got me thinking cld I also fry shnitzel in oats? Whaddaya think:?:

I would use it as a thickener in a ground meat/chicken recipe, but using it to bread cutlets might give a different flavor.
Why not try it. I can't see it being too bad...

Why not? I have meatball recipes that davka call for oats, and I think it's healthier anyway.

Thanks- will give it a try! Its definitely healthier but frying in oil sorta spoils the effect ;-)

There's a recipe like this in kosher by design lightens up, IIRC
I know someone who grinds up oatmeal with seasonings, breads chicken cutlets with it and then bakes.
