12 month old DD being breastfed and I give her some lil meals here and there. She started having lately that with every BM she writhes in pain, Ive never seen a baby do this (shes child #5!). SHe literally stops breathing for a few seconds, turns sweaty and screeeeeeams while she makes Sad what could it be?! BM isnt bloody, SHe doesnt push too hard and is still mostly breastfed so I doubt shes constipated.

Is there any suspicion of a gluten or lactose sensitivity?
My son who was otherwise regular, would always want us to hold him, and scream if otherwise, right before a BM or if he was gassy. This started around 1yr and continued until very recently (he's 3.5 now) but that's because he's toilet training--but getting him to make #2 in the toilet has been a real pain--for us. When he was around 15 months we took him off regular milk and it improved somewhat, but not entirely. 2 GIs weren't much help to determine what is causing this, but I found a product called "Tummy Calm" that has helped a lot--no more screaming fits/holding, unless we are forcing him to use the toilet instead of a diaper/pull-up.

My daughter had similar symptoms. Terrible pain, it looked like she was in labor. She ended up having an backside fissure. Makes it very painful to pass a BM. Get doc to check for one. Need to treat with stool softeners until it heals
