My dad used to make pancakes from the Aunt Jemima mix (added eggs, milk, oil), and they were delicious! The recipes I've used are usually much sweeter and don't have some salty-ish taste that I can't quite place that they had. Could be it was some chemical, but I'm hoping that's not it. Anyone have an idea of what I might mean or a good not-too-sweet recipe? Thanks!

The salty taste could have just been baking soda
