Bh I have a newborn and hired a baby nurse. She is by me for only 2 days, but I'm not sure if she is doing enough. She feeds, bathes and dresses the baby and does baby laundry. Thats it. When the baby is sleeping, she sleeps or is busy on her smartphone. My mom asked her to help straighten up after the other kids, but she hasn't done too much.
Should she be doing more, or is that all baby nurses are required to do?

Afaik its not her job to help you in the house. She is only supposed to do things that involve the baby.

Typically the baby nurse is for baby related stuff. My parents pushed me to hire one for a couple of weeks with my first, and within two days, realized it was completely useless. I was nursing, so there wasn't all that much she could actually do for the baby, and she wasn't taking care of anything else. I let her go after the two days and just hired a cleaning lady, because that's what I really needed. With subsequent kids, I have the cleaning lady come extra hours and hire babysitting help for the tougher times of the day to help with the older kids for a few weeks. I personally don't find baby nurses helpful at all.

That's all the baby nurses are required to do. Only things that are baby relates.

Thank you amother above for validating me. Dh cannot take off much work and is not home during the day. He cannot work on no sleep so he offered me a baby nurse for as long as I need.
For the next week or so until I recover I guess she'll be useful. Otherwise, its annoying having someone hanging around in my small place. I also have to make sure that she is fed, which is a headache.
