Took DD14mos for her first pair of shoes. She's been walking well and independently for 3-4 months. We tried a few different styles of shoe and she toes in slightly but noticeably in all of them but she walks completely straight barefoot. This is our 8th child so I'm pretty sure the shoes we tried were a good fit although there's only so much you can know if it's not your foot in the shoe. I've never seen this before. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this might be happening?

I am not a podiatrist, but my personal theory is that shoes are bad for developing walkers. Kids that age need to FEEL the ground under their feet, so that the nerves and muscle reactions can adjust accordingly. It keeps them more balanced and stable.
Robeez, or other soft moccasin type shoes are the best, if you must put shoes on your baby. I let DD run around barefoot as much as I possibly could. She had problems with left/right integration and gross motor control, and it made a huge improvement.
12 years later, she still despises shoes, and takes them off whenever possible. The good news is that all of her movement issues cleared up beautifully, and only slightly delayed.

Get her some shoes that are less structured, she doesn't need anything major in that department. Like the Stride Rite early walkers, Pediped grip n go, or Momo Baby. Something soft and flexible that lets her feel the ground but protects her feet from rough surfaces.
