I'm like that in real life too. In a group conversation I'm more of a listener than a talker.

I use imamother as a way to unwind a bit or procrastinate (hence the screename). I can go through periods of time where I will peruse it daily, and then I can stop for a few months- just depending on how busy I am and if I have an interesting book or something else to do :-)
Also, sometimes I agree with what a previous poster wrote- sometimes I am about to write something and then I think "hey, is what I am writing really gonna make a difference to anyone" so I don't bother. Especially when it was already written a few times.
This is not to say what I do post does matter, it could be I just have more reason to procrastinate that day!

The more I find my voice in real life, the more I post over here the board.
Especially with my screen name.
Also, English is not my first language, and I've seen plenty of people getting criticized for their poor English, and don't want to be their target.
I also have 3 languages 😜

For me, I don't have internet or a smart phone so I need to zoom in and out and type in slow motion on my BlackBerry. OTHERWISE.... I'd have an insane count lol

I'm on and off imamother depending on how busy I am as well. I don't like to post because I am a private person and I view imamother as I view a large audience and don't like to share my thoughts much. I also read and reread, and usually delete my post before submitting, because I feel it's not worth the nervousness I get when posting, what others will think about what I have said. I'm also on a smart phone, so it's more annoying to type

Seeing how FF had nearly double my posts in less time, I decided to run a little Excel sheet on the frequent posters on this thread. Unfortunately it's pretty hard to format a table because your spaces get removed, but I shall try.
And here's what I think - for frequent posters, at least. This means that on average, 1 or 2 or 4 or 5 times a day you felt you had something to contribute that nobody else had said. Also you're either comfortable with your opinions or not too afraid of criticism.

I read a lot more then I post. Other people have often said what I want to say, I don't feel like I have anything to add to the conversation, or I can't quite figure out how to get my thoughts down to express what I want to express. I love the site, but I probably post once every two or three days. Interestingly, sometimes it seems like my posts go in a cluster-I said I don't post a lot, but then I wind up posting on three threads in twenty minutes, but I won't post for a week on either side.

- Going on frequent hiatus
- Limiting forums they read/reply to
- Actually having lives
But I will admit it: sometimes I read a post and think, this is what she came out of hiding for?
I kept this amother-enabled vs. say chit chat, but apologies, replying does up your count |
I find I come and go, directly related to what type of work I'm engaged in. When I have a lot of boring computer work, I end up posting on imamother more, because I'm already on my computer, so I'll click on just to see what's going on. During other times, when I'm doing work that's more motivating, I don't end up checking out imamother for months at a time.
