I've read on a few other threads that regular Pediatricians are not so helpful when it comes to delayed development. I've found this to be my experience as well. And this is an otherwise excellent pediatrician who is definitely on the ball regarding health matters, great bedside manner etc. But while I filled out those check box sheets about development at each well visit, I don't see what the point was. One of my children was definitely delayed in several key things, and he kept saying "well, every kid is different, it's just a guideline, he's happy and healthy..." That child turned out to have autism (very mild though, so took awhile to diagnose). I got him started with EI not because of the doctor's suggestion but because of my mother's. Anyway, I hear my experience is fairly common, and again, I think he's otherwise a fantastic doctor. I guess I just want to know how common this is. Did you also find your regular pediatrician to be lacking in this area?

Yes. I switched pediatricians because of it and found my new one quite helpful.
