sonny-in-law & I are trying to make a sponge cake without a mixer ... all we have is a whisk

so we are taking turns - to whip the whites ... man talk about hard labour - worse than singing for your supper Wink

I guess dd#3 is going to have to whisk the whip cream when she gets home cause we'll be napping

The first year we made pesach, I tried whipping the eggs with a hand whisk. The next year, the first thing on my list was an electric one. How did you get it thick enough without breaking your arm first? Smile

That's how the pastry chefs of old used to do it, I guess. (Anyone else remember Gene Zion's The Sugar Mouse Cake?)

Sure sounds like you had fun though! I heard that in the olden days they would use 2 forks held together to whip up a snow. I guess a whisk is already an upgrade Smile.
