So Haman was an evil man who wanted to kill all the jews. It's odd that we make a cookie, in the shape of his hat, call it a "hamantash", and eat it. Imagine if ate Hitler cookies. What about isis cookies? Isn't it wierd?

Maybe if the Jews would have been spared during the Holocaust we'd eat Hitlertashen.
But since 6 million died there isn't much joy.

My understanding is that the name was originally derived from "mohn taschen" or "poppy pockets." Not really related to Haman.

This may not answer the question as to the name of the cookie, but there is a connection to "hidden miracles," G-d is hidden in the megillah, Esther was a hidden Jew, and so forth. The Hamentashen has a "hidden" filling. Does this make sense? Is it a stretch?

While the other ideas sound plausible--especially the "mon tashen"--b/c I always remember my father requesting "mon" filling--even though I didn't enjoy it, I thnk it's kind of like--"Haman you think you were so great? Look we think your ears look like triangles and we're eating them like a snack, take that you rasha!"
