First of all, how have you seen this name be spelled in English? Second, are there good alternative ideas for this name? Mostly just trying to avoid the 'ch' sound. Thanks!

This is my husband's name. He spells it like in your title: Chananya. That is how it is on his legal documents. Most (non-Jewish) people pronounce it with a "ch" like "chin" sound.

I LOVE this name! There's a rabbi in my old city who has that name, and I always thought it sounded classy.
No clue about nicknames. Everything I can think of sounds like a girl's name. If it were me, I'd just keep it long.

The best I could get would be Chanan, but that's a different name.
Nony?

I've heard Chanani as a nickname for Chananiah.
